A lot of users perform file and folder operations in the Windows operating system. But some of them, especially the ones which have been using Windows since earlier versions, still turn to command-line to perform file operations. Using the CMD application available in any Windows version, you can perform various operations with files and folders by typing specific commands.

The problem is that users may want more flexibility and more control from these commands. In this situation, they can just install and use XXCOPY. This Windows program basically extends the functionality of the copy command available in CMD, giving the user more control and more flexibility. In order to install the application, you will first need to unzip all the files which come with the application and then run the install.bat file. After answering to some simple questions, you will be able to launch the program directly from CMD, as it will automatically integrate with Windows.

When typing only the xxcopy command, the program will list all available switches, parameters and options which can be used together with the application. In case a certain command is not clear enough for the user, he can turn to the comprehensive online manual available on the program's website. The fact that the application is command-line based makes it more accessible, as it can run on virtually any computer configuration, even on older and slower ones.

Pros

It allows you to perform various file and folder operations by using commands and switches. Besides that, the online manual explains all the program's functionality in full detail. Furthermore, it can automatically integrate into Windows.

Cons

Not having a graphical interface may seem overwhelming for some users. Performing file and folder operations becomes more flexible when using XXCOPY.
